Payments, Renewals & Refunds

Last updated: 15 August 2026

Public paid BAF verification applications are not currently open. This policy sets the principles that will govern paid BAF verification and other paid BAF services when they are made available.

1. Free directory claims

Claiming and managing a basic eligible BAF business directory listing is free unless BAF clearly introduces and discloses a different optional paid service. A free listing claim is separate from BAF verification.

2. Price disclosure

Before taking payment, BAF will clearly display the applicable price, whether GST is included or added, the billing period, whether renewal is recurring, and any material conditions attached to the purchase.

The price displayed at the time an order is confirmed is the price that applies to that transaction, subject to correction of an obvious pricing error before the service is supplied.

3. Payment does not buy approval

BAF verification is based on evidence and the applicable verification standard. Payment does not guarantee approval, prevent later review or influence an assessment decision.

BAF will structure the public verification workflow so applicants can understand when assessment occurs and when any verification fee becomes payable before committing to payment.

4. Payment processing

BAF may use Stripe or another disclosed payment provider to process payments. The payment provider may collect and process payment-card and billing information under its own terms and privacy practices. BAF may receive and keep transaction identifiers, payment status, amount, currency, customer or subscription identifiers and related accounting information.

5. Annual verification period

Unless the offer expressly states otherwise, BAF verification is intended to operate on a 12-month verification period. Verification remains subject to the BAF Verification Standard & Termsthroughout that period.

6. Recurring renewals

BAF will not treat a service as automatically recurring unless that fact is clearly disclosed before the customer agrees and pays. If an annual service is offered on automatic renewal, BAF will provide a practical way to cancel future renewal.

BAF intends to give a renewal reminder before an annual automatic renewal and to identify the amount expected to be charged or provide a clear way to find it. Cancellation made before the renewal charge takes effect will stop the next renewal, subject to reasonable payment-processing cut-off times disclosed to the customer.

7. Cancellation

Cancelling future renewal does not ordinarily cancel a verification period that has already been paid for and granted. The business may continue to use its current status until expiry unless the verification is separately suspended or revoked under the verification terms.

8. Refunds

Refund eligibility depends on the reason for the request and the stage of the service. BAF will not use this policy to exclude any refund, remedy or consumer guarantee required by Australian law.

  • If BAF takes payment but cannot provide the paid service because of a BAF error or cancellation, BAF will provide an appropriate refund or other remedy.
  • If a duplicate payment is taken, BAF will refund the duplicate amount once confirmed.
  • If an unauthorised or incorrect charge is reported, BAF will investigate and work with the payment provider as appropriate.
  • If a verification is revoked because BAF reasonably finds that the applicant supplied materially false, forged or misleading evidence, a refund will not ordinarily be due, subject always to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
  • If BAF ends a paid verification for reasons unrelated to any breach or loss of eligibility by the business, BAF will consider an appropriate pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the verification period where fair and lawful.

9. Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, BAF may notify the customer and allow a reasonable opportunity to update payment details. BAF will not represent an unpaid or expired verification as current after its valid period has ended.

10. Price changes

BAF may change future prices. A price change will not retrospectively alter a completed payment for the current verification period. For an automatic renewal, BAF will disclose a material price change before the new amount is charged where required by law and reasonably practicable.

11. Chargebacks and payment disputes

Customers should contact BAF promptly if they do not recognise or dispute a BAF charge. A chargeback does not determine whether a business satisfies the BAF verification standard, but reversal of a required verification payment may end the paid licence after BAF has considered the circumstances and any applicable legal rights.

12. Receipts and records

BAF or its payment provider will provide transaction confirmation or a receipt where applicable. BAF may retain payment and accounting records for the periods required by law or reasonably necessary for financial administration and dispute resolution.

13. Contact

Payment, cancellation or refund enquiries can be sent to admin@buyaustralianfirst.com.au.
